Elementary School Mother's Day Gift
Sits right next to my senior portrait, so I can look at how much I’ve grown when I go to bed.
I remember my mom’s smile when I first gifted this. It’s pretty insignificant compared to what she’s done for me,
but I felt joy in making her happy. All my life, I’ve gifted people with sentimental gifts I’ve handcrafted.
Even if it’s visually worse than the same gift at Target, I find it to be more enjoyable for both parties when
it comes from the heart (and lots of glue).
Chingling Sitting Cuties Plushy
I could make a whole page about Pokémon. Video games have always influenced my interests, yet this game
series played the biggest role in my adolescent development. This is one of my favourite Pokémon,
Chingling, given by my buddy Noah. If you can’t tell, he sits next to an entire shelf of Pokémon plushies.
I might have an obsession.
Actually, I think I will make a whole page dedicated to Pokémon.
CO2 Car From 8th Grade Engineering Class
I made this car in an engineering and woodworking class back in Middle school. This was probably
my first hands-on experience with engineering, unless you count LEGO. Over the marking period, I gained
skills in using machinary and built the car of my dreams.
Note that I’m not actually the “2022 national winner”. I’m fairly certain my car lost every
race. I just put a bunch of stickers on at the end for fun.
Spider-Man 2099 Action Figure Poster From Japan
It’s not even an actual poster; it’s the advertisement for the 2099 action figure.
This was something I brought back from Japan when I visited in the Summer of 2023. My cousins
and I spent a week in the countryside of Kyoto and another in Tokyo. Japan will always be the
greatest trip I’ve ever been on. Beyond just the anime (specifically, One Piece) and video games
(specifically, Pokémon) I can yap about, I loved the shrines and culture there. I met people
understanding of my lack of the local language, and they assisted me as such. I made decisions
on my own and lived independently. I hope to go back someday with a little more money in my pockets.
Maybe then will I get an actual poster.
Newjeans Supernatural Box-Set
Newjeans never dies. K-pop is one of my favorite genres. If you knew me in elementary school,
you’d find this statement weird, as I often blindly hated the next popular fad. At the time,
that was BTS. It really wasn’t until I met my friend Alejandro in middle school. Alejandro (or Bubba)
has always been the funniest person I know. He’s down to earth, checks up on me even while we live
in different states, and, more importantly, he’s unapologetically himself. He introduced me to
Newjeans and K-pop as a whole years ago. I thank him for leading to the best music I’ve ever heard.
I do blame him for the almost 60$ I've spent on their albums and photocards, though.
The perception behind K-pop fans no longer bothers me; I love Newjeans and would do anything to see
them perform again.
